Communities

Here you will also find useful information on the services and work provided by AFNWA.

Between 2020 and 2022, Atlantic First Nations Water Authority had 19 First Nations communities participate in our original asset management plans [AMP]. Of the original 19 participants, 13 First Nations communities from across Mi’kma’ki and Wolastokuk have confirmed membership with AFNWA through a band council resolution.  Our community onboarding period began at the start of fiscal year 2023-24, and some communities had confirmed membership a month prior!

For First Nations communities that have not yet participated in our initial AMP, please know that we are always accepting new communities to join with us. Discover more about what we do and how your community will benefit from membership with the Atlantic First Nations Water Authority.

Our door is ALWAYS open!
